  Student Employment Information

NEW FWS PARTICIPANTS

After you are offered an FWS position, you must complete the required HR New Hire Forms and onboarding process before you can begin working.

  • HR will contact you by email with instructions for completing your forms and I-9 requirements.
  • You cannot begin working, access timesheets, or receive payment until your required forms have been completed and accepted by HR.
  • Once HR confirms that your onboarding is complete, the FWS Office will finalize your hire.
  • You will then receive an Official Hire Email from the FWS Office confirming your approved start date.

CONTINUING FWS STUDENTS

If you worked in the FWS Program during the previous academic year, you do not need to complete new HR onboarding forms.

You must still apply for and be offered a position and receive your Official Hire Email before beginning work.

Remember:

  • Do not begin working until you have received your Official Hire Email from the FWS Office.
  • FWS students are not paid for hours they would have worked when the college is closed due to a weather emergency. If a weather emergency closure occurs, please refer to the instructions provided in the email announcement from the FWS Office.

FWS appointments are held virtually.
If you need assistance with your FWS award, employment, or have questions about the program, you can schedule a virtual Google Meet with the FWS Coordinator, Susan Grassi, by emailing Susan_Grassi@fitnyc.edu. Appointments are available while the college is open, Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM EST, excluding evenings, weekends, and holidays. We will make every effort to accommodate your request as soon as possible, based on current processing volume and appointment availability.

For general Financial Aid questions, you can visit the Financial Aid Services front desk in Dubinsky, Room A-212-A during normal business hours.

  Off- Campus Jobs- Reading Tutors

Off-campus Reading Tutor positions are available through the Reading Partners program. Students interested in these opportunities can apply directly through the Student Employment website under the corresponding job posting. These positions pay a slightly higher hourly rate because they require travel off campus.

Important: Please select the correct application. This is the only FWS position that requires you to choose between Lower Division (Associate’s program) and Upper Division (Bachelor’s program).
